The need for accessible, affordable, quality health care in the U.S. has never been greater. In response
to this need, convenience clinics (aka retail clinics, quick clinics, express clinics, minute clinics) are
being launched across the country to help provide care to meet the basic needs of the public. Health
care driven by the needs of the patient is at the heart and soul of the Convenience Clinic Industry
(CCI).
Convenience clinics have been called "disruptive innovation" because they are consumer-driven and
they are a response to many patients who are unhappy with the current conventional medical delivery
system -- a system that is challenged to provide access to basic services when people need it most.
Convenience clinics are set-up in a variety of locations including office complexes, shopping malls,
schools, airports, pharmacies, supermarkets, etc. or they can be free-standing. Clinics located in
pharmacies or supermarkets are often called "retail clinics".
